Dr. Nicole Schimmel

Dr. Nicole Schimmel is originally from Illinois, and completed her undergraduate and veterinary medical studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Visiting the vet can be stressful, and Dr. Schimmel takes great joy in providing a welcoming and fear-free environment for her patients. She is especially interested in internal medicine, ophthalmology, pain management, and soft tissue surgery. Dr. Schimmel enjoys constantly learning and is always trying to be up to date on treatment options so that her patients receive the best care available. She is also passionate about work-place wellness and burnout in the veterinary field, and has actively researched strategies on promoting lasting and meaningful change in the veterinary profession. 

When she is not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Schimmel loves to read and write, and enjoys teaching fitness classes as a certified ZUMBA and cycling instructor. She has a total of 8 animals (one dog, three cats, one leopard gecko, and three tarantulas) with her partner, Emma.
